OSHA Safety Day 2020
Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Naperville office, will host a Safety Day on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the Academic and Professional Center on the Sugar Grove Campus located at Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.
According to the National Safety Council, workplace injuries cost companies $160 billion each year with an average of 9 fatalities and 12,600 injuries per day. The purpose of OSHA Safety Day is to give employers an opportunity to learn how to make the workplace safer, thereby preventing employee injury and fatality, increasing company productivity and reducing costs.
This all-day seminar is held every other year in March. This year’s event will feature 15 sessions facilitated by recognized workplace safety experts. For the first time, there will also be a track offered in Spanish.
Topics include: Working High: Navigating Safety with New Marijuana Laws, Workplace Violence, OSHA Update, Let Technology Generate Your Leading Indicators, Machine Guarding, Cultural Barriers- the Latino Workforce and Fatality Rates, Confined Space- What Do We Do, Hazard Communication-GHS and Beyond, Electrical Hazard, Control of Hazardous Energy, and more.
