Online - Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020 at 12:00 PM (CT) to Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020 at 1:30 PM (CT)

To be compliant with the Illinois Human Rights Act (IHRA), employers with employees in Illinois must provide sexual harassment prevention training by the end of 2020. Tolerance of sexual harassment creates a hostile work environment for employees, which reduces productivity and increases legal liability for employers. With this seminar, the SBDC provides employers and employees with the information they need to prevent sexual harassment and comply with the law. Using the model training material provided by the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR), topics covered in this program include:

· An explanation of sexual harassment consistent with the Illinois Human Rights Act
· Examples of conduct that may constitute unlawful sexual harassment
· A summary of Federal and State statutory laws concerning sexual harassment including remedies available to victims
· An overview of employer responsibilities in the prevention, investigation, and corrective measures of sexual harassment.

Employees will leave with a clear understanding of their rights regarding freedom from sexual harassment in the workplace. Employers will have the information they need to protect and train their employees in compliance with Illinois law.

For new employees, training must occur within 90 days of hire. Furthermore, from now on, the law requires annual sexual harassment training. See more information about the IHR training compliance at
